Wizard World Day 1 - Heroes Honoring Heroes

Background:
Wizard World is one of the largest comicons held in Central Ohio.

Impression:
Wizard did an amazing job this year of honoring our local Ohio military members by having stars like James Marsters(Spike from Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Nicholas Brenden (Zander from Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and Mitch Pileggi (Walter Skinner from The X-Files) introduce each local hero and give a background summary.

We thought the presentation was a fantastic and classy way to kick off the weekend!

These custom shields were such a trophy, a few of the stars pretended they were going to run off with one!  :D

Each soldier was given a replica Captain America shield, with a personalized engraving.

James Marsters reads over the bio of the soldier he will introduce.

Comfest Burlesque (Adult Content)

Dimples Diamond

Background:
Per WikipediaBurlesque is a literary, dramatic or musical work intended to cause laughter by caricaturing the manner or spirit of serious works, or by ludicrous treatment of their subjects.[1] The word derives from the Italian burlesco, which, in turn, is derived from the Italian burla – a joke, ridicule or mockery.

There were several burlesque performances at the 2016 Community Festival this year, this being just one of them.

Impression:
All the performances were top notch.  This show's talent was brought by Crimson Lace Cabaret.

It's really hard for me to put into words the performances.   If you like live theater, or comedy like Shadowbox, then this is right up there - only a little racier!!  The time went by very fast.  In my opinion, it is worth a trip to see their performances!!

Pokemon Go in Columbus

Written/Photography by Andrew Livelsberger

Background:

Pokemon Go is a game that was created by the Niantic company, the same ones that created the mobile game Ingress.  In a nut shell you walk around town and find Pokemon, capture them and them you can upgrade them and use them to fight in a PokeGym.   The game has taken the nation by storm.  If you want more information about it, check out the official site.

Impression:

I'll admit that I didn't want to get caught up int the craze.  But the game is fun, gets you out of the house and exploring different places, some you may not have even know existed.  It can be played alone or in teams, of which our family has joined Team Mystic and we generally play together!

One Sunday night we decided to travel to the Short North/Goodale Park area in Columbus and grab a few Pokemon.  Here are some images captured of others playing.

Before passing judgement on it, I ask that you look for the good in everything first and weigh that against the negatives.  I think you'll find that this fun, interactive game has a lot more going for it than against it!
